John 3:6-8
Disciples’ Literal New Testament

6 The thing having been born of the flesh is flesh, and the thing having been born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You[a] all must be born again’— 8 the wind blows where it wants, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know from where it comes, and where it is going. So[b] is everyone having been born of the Spirit”.

  1. John 3:7 This word is plural.
  2. John 3:8 We do not understand the ‘how’ (v 4) of wind; we only see its effects. So it is with the spiritual wind of birth from God (spirit and wind are the same word in Greek).
